nautical spirit
In 1992, the Yacht-Master series was launched, launching the first watch designed specifically for navigators and sailors. Rolex’s cooperation with the sailing community and sailing events began in the 1950s, and the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master reflects this long history of cooperation. This professional watch perfectly combines practical functions with nautical style, making it suitable for wear on land or on water. The Yacht-Master is easily identifiable, either with a diamond-set outer ring or a bi-directional rotating 60-minute scale outer ring. The outer ring is made of precious metals or high-tech ceramics with Cerachrom ceramic inserts.
Oyster case
The 40 mm Oyster case of the new Yacht-Master 40 is the epitome of robustness and reliability. The middle case is cast from a single piece of solid 18K white gold. Rolex watchmakers use special tools exclusive to the brand to tighten the finely grooved bottom cover to seal the case, so only Rolex watchmakers can access the movement. The three-buckle winding crown has a triple waterproof system and is firmly screwed to the case. The crown guard is integrated into the middle case to protect the winding crown. The mirror surface is made of anti-reflective blue crystal and is not easily scratched. There is a small window convex lens at 3 o'clock for easy reading of the calendar. The watch's waterproof Oyster case provides the best protection for the movement.
Caliber 3235 Perpetual movement
The new Yacht-Master 40 is equipped with caliber 3235, which was launched in 2015 and was entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. It was installed in this series of watches in 2019. The self-winding movement equipped with it has obtained a number of patents, fully embodying Rolex's innovative technology and excellent watchmaking craftsmanship, and has been further improved in terms of accuracy and reliability, power reserve, anti-shock and anti-magnetic, and ease of use. perfection.
The 3235 movement is equipped with Rolex’s patented Chronergy escapement system, which is efficient and reliable. This escapement system is made of nickel phosphorus and is not affected by magnetic fields. The movement is equipped with Rolex’s patented blue Parachrom hairspring, which is made of a unique paramagnetic alloy cast by Rolex. The hairspring is also equipped with a Rolex final ring to ensure that the movement can still operate regularly in any position. The balance spring assembly of the movement is equipped with a high-performance Paraflex cushioning device designed and patented by Rolex to improve the movement's shock resistance.
Caliber 3235 is equipped with a perpetual motion automatic winding component, which is wound by a perpetual oscillating weight. The structure of the barrel and the excellent efficiency of the escapement system increase the power reserve of the 3235 movement to approximately 70 hours.
Oysterflex strap and Oyster safety clasp
The new Yacht-Master 40 18K white gold model is equipped with an Oysterflex strap, which combines the firmness and reliability of a metal strap with the flexibility, comfort and beauty of a rubber strap . The innovative strap developed and patented by Rolex is composed of a curved elastic metal sheet and covered with high-performance black rubber injection molding. It is not easily affected by various environmental conditions and is durable. There is a vertical cushion on the back of the Oysterflex strap, making it more comfortable to wear.
The Oysterflex strap of the new Yacht-Master 40 is equipped with a Rolex-designed and patented 18K white gold folding oyster safety clasp to prevent the buckle from being opened accidentally, and is equipped with a Rolex Glidelock extension device. Developed and patented by Rolex, this innovative rack mechanism is concealed under the buckle cover and allows for step-by-step fine-tuning of the Oysterflex strap length without the need for tools. The Rolex Glidelock extension device of the Oysterflex strap has a total of six grids, each of about 2.5 mm, which is convenient and easy to adjust the length of the strap, and can be extended by up to about 15 mm.
Superior Chronometer Certification
Like all Rolex watches, the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 40 has also received the Superlative Chronometer certification established by Rolex in 2015. This unique designation proves that each watch has successfully passed a series of tests in Rolex laboratories. In addition, the movements of these watches are also certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Center (COSC). The watch is tested after it is assembled and the movement is installed in the case to ensure that the watch can perform excellently in terms of accuracy, power reserve, waterproofing and automatic winding when worn. The average error of the Rolex Grand Observatory chronometer is within plus or minus two seconds per day. The accuracy that Rolex pursues is much higher than the standard for Swiss official chronometer certification.
The green seal, a symbol of superior chronometer precision, is included with every Rolex watch and comes with a five-year global guarantee.
